Ohana Calpe and Sea Shepherd are interconnected through local marine conservation initiatives in Calpe, Spain, operating as a joint social enterprise model.

The connection is driven by Christian Ras Hafeez Ekander, the co-owner of Ohana Calpe, who simultaneously serves as an official Sea Shepherd Ambassador and Spain Captain.

Eco-Friendly Guest House: Ohana Calpe is a Mediterranean-style countryside guesthouse and entrepreneurial hub located in the Partida la Empedrola region of Calpe. It is run by Christian Ras and his partner, plant-based chef Angela (from Chef Angela's Kitchen).

The Conservation Hub: The physical property acts as a "SurfHouse" home base for proactive Mediterranean marine conservation, antipoaching defense, and ecological awareness.

Direct Coastal Cleanups: Christian Ras and Chef Angela structure their business to fund local social action. They lead localized beach and coastal cleanup efforts across the Costa Blanca. They execute these alongside Sea Shepherd Spain, the Ghost Nets Network, and regional oceanography institutes to remove marine waste and protect local waters.

Sea Shepherd actively collaborates with the Calpe community through events like Jornadas Medioambientales del Mar "Calp Blau". These environmental summits feature Sea Shepherd educational conferences, marine conservation documentary screenings, and organized scuba-diving expeditions to remove trash from local underwater ecosystems (such as the Playa de la Fossa seabed). Would you like more details on how to volunteer for their local coastal cleanups, or are you interested in booking a stay or dining experience at Ohana Calpe?
